Centrifuge Filter Fabrics
Precision-cut filter media for peeler, pusher, and inverting filter centrifuges. Engineered for high G-forces, chemical resistance, and reliable cake discharge.
About Centrifuge Filtration
Filtering centrifuges use centrifugal force to drive liquid through a filter medium while retaining solids as a cake on the basket wall. The filter cloth must be precisely fitted to the basket geometry and must withstand the extreme forces generated during high-speed rotation.
The three main types — peeler centrifuges, pusher centrifuges, and inverting filter centrifuges — each impose different mechanical and chemical requirements on the filter medium. R+F supplies custom-fitted cloths, bags, and liners for all three types.
Typical Applications
Centrifuge Types We Serve
Each centrifuge type places distinct demands on the filter medium. We engineer solutions for all three.
Peeler Centrifuge
- Horizontal or vertical basket with rotating peeler blade
- Cloth must withstand blade contact without damage
- Clean cake release critical for batch purity
- Materials: PP, PET, PA — mono- and multifilament
- PTFE easy-release coatings available
Pusher Centrifuge
- Multi-stage baskets with reciprocating pusher plates
- High abrasion from sliding cake movement
- Robust monofilament constructions for maximum wear life
- Precise slot/hole patterns for drainage screens
- Typically used in salt, sugar, and bulk chemical production
Inverting Filter Centrifuge
- Basket inverts to discharge cake — 100% cake removal
- Filter bag instead of flat cloth — must be precisely sewn
- Ideal for pharmaceutical APIs and fine chemicals
- Ultrasonic-welded seams available to eliminate contamination
- ATEX/ESD-safe versions for explosive atmospheres
Common Challenges
Centrifuge filtration places unique demands on the filter medium due to high G-forces and precise geometry requirements.
G-Force Resistance
Filter media in centrifuges experience forces up to 2,500 G. The fabric must resist stretching, deformation, and creep under sustained centrifugal load.
Precise Fit
Each centrifuge basket has unique dimensions. The filter cloth must be cut and assembled to exact tolerances to prevent bypass and uneven cake formation.
Cake Discharge
Peeler and inverting centrifuges require reliable cake release from the cloth surface. Residual cake reduces capacity and contaminates subsequent batches.
Chemical Environment
Centrifuges in chemical and pharma applications handle solvents, acids, and reactive intermediates. Material selection is critical for cloth longevity.
ATEX & ESD Safety
Explosive atmospheres in pharmaceutical and chemical plants require antistatic fabrics that prevent electrostatic charge buildup during high-speed rotation.
Batch Consistency
Repeatable filtration results across hundreds of batch cycles demand a cloth that maintains its properties without degradation over time.
