Polypropylene (PP) Filter Fabric
The most widely used polymer in industrial liquid filtration. Polypropylene offers outstanding chemical resistance across the entire pH spectrum, making it the default choice for acidic, alkaline, and neutral filtration processes.
Material Properties
Chemical Resistance
Excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, alcohols, and most solvents. pH range 1–14. Not suitable for concentrated oxidising agents (HNO₃, H₂SO₄ hot).
Temperature Range
Continuous operating temperature up to 90 °C. Short-term peaks to 100 °C. Below 0 °C: retains flexibility.
Hydrophobic
Inherently water-repellent surface promotes fast cake discharge and reduces moisture retention in the filter cake.
Abrasion Resistance
Good mechanical durability for continuous belt and press operations. Lower than PET but adequate for most slurries.
FDA Compliant
PP filter fabrics are available in FDA-compliant grades for food and beverage filtration applications.
Cost-Effective
PP is the most economical synthetic filter fabric. Excellent cost-performance ratio for high-consumption applications.
