About Rotary Disc Filters
Rotary disc filters consist of multiple parallel discs mounted on a central shaft, partially submerged in a slurry trough. Vacuum applied through the shaft draws filtrate through the cloth covering each disc sector, forming a cake on the surface that is discharged by snap blow-back as the sector rotates past the discharge point.
Disc filters are valued for their very high filtration area per footprint, making them ideal for high-volume continuous dewatering. The filter cloth is attached to individual pie-shaped sectors, and each sector can be replaced independently — minimising downtime.

Common Challenges
Sector Precision
Each sector panel must be cut and sewn to exact trapezoidal dimensions. Incorrect fit causes bypass, uneven cake formation, and accelerated wear at edges.
Snap-Blow Discharge
Cake release relies on a brief reverse air pulse. The fabric surface must promote clean release — residual cake reduces capacity on the next rotation.
Abrasion Resistance
Mining slurries contain sharp particles that wear cloth surfaces. High-tenacity monofilament yarns extend cloth life in abrasive applications.
Caulking & Fastening
Sectors are caulked or clipped to the disc frame. The cloth edges must be compatible with the specific caulking system of your filter model.
Continuous Operation
Disc filters run 24/7 in mining plants. Fabric durability directly determines maintenance intervals and operational availability.
Permeability Uniformity
Consistent permeability across all sectors ensures uniform cake thickness and moisture content across the entire disc assembly.
